Some people dream of yachts. Others dream of fame. Us? We dream of a tin shed on a big Aussie block, packing undies with the gum trees swaying out the window and a kettle always on the boil.
undicloth® started back in 2020 right in the thick of it all. While the world was flipping on its head, we were down in Sydney’s Inner West sewing our first pair of organic, fair-trade undies and hoping someone out there would give a damn.
Turns out, plenty of you did. But keeping this little underwear dream alive hasn’t exactly been a walk in the (native bush) park.
We still run things production to production. That means every dollar counts, every order matters, and every time you chuck a pair of our undies in your cart, it helps us gear up for the next round. Small-batch production is beautiful it means less waste, more care, and that everyone involved gets paid fairly. But it also costs a lot more. We're talking eye-watering, stomach-dropping, “how is this still worth it?” kind of costs.
And look, the offshore offers? They slide into our inbox regularly. Bigger margins, bigger quantities, way less stress. But they come at a cost we’re just not willing to pay jobs leaving Australia, unknown working conditions, and a product that doesn't carry the same heartbeat as the ones we make here. That’s never been us.
We're here for the long haul (or at least, we’re trying to be). We dream of growing, not into some flashy global brand but into a slow, steady, sustainable Aussie-made operation. One where we pack your orders from a tin shed out back on a country block. Where your undies smell faintly of eucalyptus, horses and ambition. Where we can say, proudly, that every single stitch stayed right here on home soil.
So if you’ve been with us since the start, or you’re just discovering us now, thank you. You’re keeping this very Aussie, very earnest, very cheeky dream alive.
